    Is there any sort of application to enable me sending/ receiving SMS's from my mac to iPhones/ samsung galaxy etc ?

    If you set up Google Voice, you get a phone number and can send and receive all the text messages you want, as well as make phone calls, and it doesn't cost anything within the US.

    with Google voice you get to choose a number from whats available, I don't think it can send from your mobile's number. Many SMS apps charge you... and still don't use your number.
