hopefully they would already release this so i wont have to hack it. hehhehe this means if they release the SDK, around feb (as they announced), everything is not boring on the ipod touch anymore! hehehehe.

The thing is, most likely the new third-party applications will have to be purchased through iTunes...I mean, given that everything is free in a jailbroken iPod Touch right now, and after the SDK, each application would cost like $2.99 or so...ugh.

would the SDK be available for the general public to use? or is it only for people who pay for that sdk? i'm interested in developing apps for the touch.

if it's for free like the jailbroken once, ipod touch would be the best for the money (32gb). they should add skype on it.

Even if it's free it doesn't mean everybody can release freely applications for it. Maybe applications need to be signed by Apple in order to be executable on the Touch. That way Apple has control over the software released and they can charge you for every program you want to release.

the sdk will allow you to test out apps on the touch/phone first, right? or does it only provide an emulator, and force you to upload your app to apple first before you can use it on the touch/phone?

Hm, I would expect Apple to allow developers to test it out first. Apple's been so concerned about stability and security for third party applications on the iPhone/iPod Touch, I think they would.

There's some rumours going on that the iPhone/iTouch will support Flash soon.

My guess is that Apple will create the SDK on the iPhone to appease AT&T (either through some heavy sandboxing or through the distribution mechanism), and then give the Touch the same SDK, to avoid having it show up the phone. I hope this doesn't happen.

Does anyone else think "to avoid conflicting with AT&T's interests" every time they read "security" or "stability", or am I just being overly cynical?
