This rumor has been going around for months but id thought id ask what others thought. Its been years since the macbook air update. Do you think by Christmas that a 12 inch Macbook Air will be released or immanent?

I have never really expressed much interest in the air, BUT a 12 inch screen is certainly appealing. Do you think this rumor could be true or has any possibility of happening. Id love to see apple release a 12 inch product. it would be nice.

do you really think they would keep selling it if they weren't selling enough of them every year?

    True.

I guess there's a small market for it, I never really could think of a situation where I would prefer an Air over a 13" Pro though.

Lots of people buy them that don't need the power of the MBP's and want something light and portable.

And as for the rumour, well, there's one every year.

Looking at what Alienware has done with the m11x, it looks like a premium-priced 11-inch model would sell well for Apple.

If the rumour turns out to be true (11.6" MBA) I'd definitely buy one if it's priced at or lower than the previous MBA's price. I think there's definitely a market for premium sub-13" notebooks. Personally I no longer care if my notebook has an optical drive but it has to have an SSD, 4GB RAM and a decent IGP.

Well considering the current Air has the same footprint as the 13" MBP (that means the area consumed in a backpack is the same) is less powerful and is more expensive ... It just doesn't add up.

Sure it's lighter ... By a whopping 1.5 lbs  what a neckbreaker.

But hey, if that 0.2" less of thickness is what they're paying that premium for ... Then sure.

I measure my bags by volume.. not area, and a Air takes up a lot less volume in a bag.

What's with the elitist attitude? If someone wants to buy a MBA because it suits their personal needs, who are you to look down at them for it?

I'd love to see something this small.......though I doubt it will retain the razor thin form factor. Would be a nice move too to see it replace the White MB, if highly unlikely ;)

Apple's just taking the time & effort it looks like, to properly revamp their slow selling 'hobbyist' products (the 'Apple TV' being a prime example) IMO....

The Air's a fine machine, but has been neglected for a while and needs some attention. Revamping it into an 11.6" form factor would help it better fit into Apple's whole "ecosystem" (iPad -> MB Air -> White MB etc.....)
