hey guys, I just had an unfortunate accident with my macbookpro where a text book fell on it while it was open and tore a part of the rubber on the screen hinge (long story), just below the 'MacBook Pro' letters. fortunately nothing else was damaged, but I read that this rubber part is part of the antenna for wireless. would this change anything like reception or whatnot? the tear is less than a cm wide and it is also uneasy on the eyes and was also wondering whats the best solution to fix it. i took a picture with my cell phone which is here -> [IMG]
    thanks guys

I must say thats pretty hard to do (drop a text book in that exact spot, sorry). But I don't think it will affect wireless reception. I believe it it just protecting the antenna. Rubber is not a material that would be used to actually pick up a wireless signal. Unless you notice a difference, I don't think it's a problem.

That's pretty nice quality for a cellphone camera :p.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Apple's warranty doesn't cover accidental damage, so Apple won't fix that up for you. But unless you notice that your WiFi isn't as great, I don't think it'll affect your signal at all.

Yep, the rubber is just a cover over the WiFi antennas. Other than the blemish you should be OK.

You can take it to the local Apple Store for an estimate. It probably won't be cheap. I would guess $100-$200 for material and labor. But I'm just guessing.
