I have just dug out my old powerbook G4 titanium 400Mhz, 10GB hard drive and 256MB RAM which is in mint condition as I rarely used it since buying it in 2002.

The plan is to use it purely for surfing the Web in bed and to take on holiday for watching DVDs as well as other simple tasks (word, excel etc).

I have bought 2x 512MB RAM sticks to upgrade the memory to 1GB in total.

I now want to install Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger) to replace the 10.2.8 OS version currently installed.

Will my paltry 400Mhz now beefed up with 1GB of RAM be able to run Tiger well or will installing Tiger slow down the computer further. The laptop currently struggles with just surfing the web as it is in its current state so the last thing I want to is slow it down further.

Would replacing the Hard Drive benefit performance? If so I will buy a 120GB 2.5 IDE PATA Drive. If not then I will simply use an external hard drive to complement the massive 10GB on my laptop.

Thanks in advance for any replies.
