My MacBook, circa late 2008, is acting incredibly strange lately, and has had to be reset due to permissions issues before.
I want to do a clean wipe, so that I can partition my drive and install windows on partition. The only problem is, I've lost my install discs.
I borrowed some from a friend who has a Macbook and bought his in 2009. They don't seem to agree with my Leopard, which is 10.5.8, and won't let me upgrade either.
What I'm wondering is, if I wipe my HD and try to fresh install OSX with these discs, will that work, or am I SOL?

SOL...those discs are made specifically for that model.

You need a generic retail disc

So, even if it's the same model of Macbook, like, same specs and everything, I'm basically buying a new OSX disc at the Apple Store?

unless they have exactly the same model codes on the bottom, yes.
as your units are a year apart they have totally different install disks, every model of every refresh has their own.

get a retail disk or order a replacement from Apple
