OK, I get the "Allow Incoming Connections?" popup every time I launch iTunes.

Apple "says" the ultimate remedy is re-installation of iTunes, but gives no details of such.

Is it just a matter of deleting the iTunes app icon, then downloading the program from the Apple website? Or do I re-install from my Snow Leopard disk?

Should I de-authorize the computer first?

Definitely de-authorize your machine first before re-installing iTunes. You should be able to simply drag the app from the Applications folder to the trash. Then, download the latest from Apple's site. You could re-install it from the SL disc, but then you'd have to wait for it to update to the latest version. Hopefully that will solve your problem.

Your post illustrates the point of my post very well. Apple gives no insight as to how to reinstall the application in order to preserve the data (content, settings, etc).

That particular support document seems aimed at obliterating iTunes completely. It indicates that the user "may want" to remove other files, such as helper files and preferences, but offers no indication as to the circumstances for which these are necessary. What I need to know is how completely, or alternatively, how simply do I need to uninstall and then reinstall to remedy the issue with the popup?

Well, I took a chance that the minimal de-installation of iTunes would suffice. I simply removed the app file from the applications folder, after de-authorizing.

I then reinstalled iTunes from the apple website download. After re-authorizing, everything seems just fine. And the really good news is that the blasted popup is gone!
