    Hello, guys!

I'm thinking of buying a refurbished Macbook, but i'm kinda concerned with it being a refurbished...

What are the odds that it will have physical scratches and other damages? Is it actually worth it to buy a refurb?
Do you know somebody with a refurbished?

Slim to none. 99 times out of 100, the only thing missing from a refurbished machine is the nice, white Apple retail box.

In most cases, yes. Sometimes Apple authorized resellers will put brand new machines on sale for less money than you can buy a refurb. It all depends on exactly what system you're looking to buy. All refurbished machines carry the same warranty as new and can be extended with AppleCare within the first year of ownership.

if its a refurb from Apple... it'll be just like new.

if its a refurb from some other person/place ... who knows what you'll get.

Refurbs from OEMs tend to look like their brand-new counterparts. Not Apple, but I have a refurbished Xbox 360 from Microsoft and a refurbished Elitebook 8570p from HP and both have no damage whatsoever (cosmetic or otherwise). Definitely stick to an OEM-refurbished product, like doh123 mentions, otherwise who knows what you'll get.

Refurbs from Apple have their unibody shells replaced with new shells, the components inside the machine are refurbished. They may come from and open box return, or a defective model which they fixed. I bought 2 refurbs from Apple, granted that was 4 years ago. But the iMac and Mac Mini I bought were flawless. Not to mention you still get a year of applecare and can buy the 3 year applecare if you so wish.
