How can you tell if a MacBook Pro is refurbished ?? Is there a sticker or any markings letting the person know ?? Thanks for any info. God Bless :)

It doesn't come in the fancy box that new units do - just a drab brown box with "Apple Certified Reconditioned Unit" on it.

    Dunno if that helps though.

The serial number will start with "RM" if it a re-manufactured unit. Click the apple symbol in the top left corner, then click "About this Mac".... then click "version" or "more info". You will see it there. New units start with "W8"

No stickers, no "APPLE CERTIFIED REFURBISHED" laser engraved onto it :p. It looks no different from a new Mac, but doesn't come with the fancy packaging, that's all.

I wonder what they do to macbooks that have a lot of scratches on the case, do they put on a new one?

    Interesting.

I just bought a (theoretically) refurbished iMac.

My serial number starts out with YD808. What does that mean?

My MBP is a refurb and it has no indication of it aside from the 'RM' serial number and the shipping box (an official "recertified" box). The MBP itself is perfect and runs flawless.
