    Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations for a Modem/Wireless Router for MacBook Pro.

I've tried my USB modem, it's not supported by Leopard, and there are no up to date drivers that work. Apple have told me they don't support USB modems for this model (that's what they've told me anyway).

Just tried a Netopia ethernet router and although the Mac sees the connection, it still isn't connecting to the net.

My ISP is Tiscali and I'm in the UK. Any recommendations for a Modem/Wireless Router that will work with a MacBook Pro/Leopard set up, and Tiscali are gratefully received.

I didn't expect this to be difficult, but after four days and two modems I still can't get my MBP online.

I was just looking at the Airport Express and Airport Extreme and they look amazing. From what I've heard, they also perform amazing. Compatible with both Mac and PC.

Your MBP should be able to connect to pretty much any b, g or n router. If it sees your router it's probably a secured connection and you need the WEP or WPA(2) key to connect to it.
    Good luck,
    Steve

Thanks for the replies. The Ethernet modem isn't on a secured connection and I'm pretty sure the settings are fine. I'll try and see if it works on a PC, if so then the Mac's the problem.

I'd love an Apple wifi but they're a bit too expensive for me, and probably wouldn't be supported by Tiscali who (in their own words) say

"I would like to share with you that we have limited support for Mac operating system."

Thanks for sharing that, and for refusing to update my modem, so time to find a more Mac friendly UK ISP.

Allegedly Netopia (at least here in the US) offer excellent customer phone support. I would start there as I strongly believe this is nothing more that a configuration issue. The statement your ISP is making pertains to their inability (due to lack of knowledge) to assist you if you run into networking trouble (with your Mac). Keep in mind that Wi-Fi is a standard that all Windows, OS X, Linux etc. computers must adhere to.
