This is kind of an off beat question maybe. i have a macbook w/2gig mem and a Thinkpad T22 256 Pentium. What I would like to know since many came over from Windows. Is there anyway to get REAL PLAYER to work on either one. I can get any other player to work but the podcasts I want are with real player. I have never gotten REAL to work on any computer in since REAL came to be. All other players can be left to download the Video and then play it. REAL just keeps recycling and timing out. It has always done this and I can't believe that it still exists. Its the worst player out there. I can't get to the actual link location so I can download it to KEEPVID.COM or something like that.
I know that the ISP connection is part of the problem but I'm stuck with a slow DSL. Thats why I want to download then watch.
    Thanks

I'm not really understanding...most podcasts aren't made for RealPlayer...have you tried the iTunes listings?

THe University of North Carolina puts out the several seasons of a show they produce. Its set up to go to their website and watch the shows from previous years. Its also set up to use REAL. You select what you want, it links to REAL gives you and intro then loads the video of the show. Its all downhill from there.
I wish they were available in Itunes would make life a bunch easier !!
I just thought someone on here might be using REAL on a macbook and could give me some pointers. I've set and reset prefs even set the buffer to 10 minutes, slowed down the connection , etc,etc but what is really needed is to download the thing.

If they truly are podcasts, then there is an RSS feed associated with it and that would be enough to get them through iTunes manually. However, I doubt they are truly podcasts. The only reason people put things out for Real is copy protection. They have very restrictive DRM.

I am sorry I can't really help since I absolutely refuse to install Real on any machine I have. It has a legacy of not only being a terrible program, but also extremely rude. It likes to take file associations and it is also nearly impossible to fully get rid of. I would see if there is any alternative.

Any links for the show? I have RealPlayer (version 11, beta) installed on an iMac G5. It's certainly not the best, but it does work.

And for Windows, try Real Alternative.

Oh no. The horrors of using real player. I wonder why that thing's not classified as an adware.
