I need some help/opinions/direction or something.

I have a MBP, 2.16, Leopard, 4 gigs ram that suddenly shuts off on it's own. The battery is the original, but istat pro puts it at 56% health at 141 cycles. The problem occurs at random. I'll be typing along, the battery will be around 50% - 55% when suddenly it will shut off. No power down or anything, it just shuts off.

I tend to wonder if the battery is failing ( it's 1 1/2 years old and only gives me an hour before dying), but am not for sure.

    Any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks

No, it doesn't happen when it's hot or when it's been on for any great length of time.

I would say your battery is shot. This happened to my computer last year, I had to buy a new one since it was over a year old and out of warranty.

I was leaning toward the battery, but it seems a little odd that a battery would show 53% health on istat and gloriously die. Not my idea of quality...

I am not sure what health means in iStat Pro, but doesnt that indicate that your battery only has 53% of the capacity that it originally had? And isn't it around 50% where your computer is dying? Makes sense to me...
