try to change their place with each other and see what will be.

EDIT: And please CHECK THAT YOU REALLY PUT 2-ND STICK CORRECTLY SO YOU CAN'T SEE PINS. I know a guy who created a thread where people tried to help him about his RAM for couple pages. At the end someone told him to replace and put it back again (which would be a third time) and only then it worked! That guy who suggested that also placed his own memory with success in the same model of laptop only on 3-rd time! Palmhand.

its probably not fully inserted in the slot correctly since it thinks nothing is there.

No-no, I mean push RAM stick inside to the end so you wouldn't see any part of pins that are not pushed fully inside. They may not to have a connection with motherboard if you won't do that However I understand that probably you did that fine and perhaps that ram is just faulty. I just want to predict ALL possibilities no matter how noob they are :)

not sure... probably 0 on the bottom and 1 on top.

You can try to run just 1 stick at a time... see which one works right by itself... also try each one by itself in each slot. See if its a ram problem or a slot problem. Its probably just a bad stick of ram if you've inserted it a few times and it still doesn't work.
