I was wondering about the the RAM usage by the MBP/MB.

I have 2 GB right now, and I am surprised to see that it is really all I need.

I opened up all my programs that I would normally have open to be productive, and I still had about 150 mb left unused.

And XP runs wonderfully on that as well, not to mention it runs GTA4 perfectly fine.

How is it that the mac osx pulls this off so well? In vista, the computer would slow down when I have lots of apps open with 2 GB.

2gb is fine for most people, and everyday tasks. 4gb is cheap enough, that computers come standard with it now, or its easy to upgrade to it.

Either way, 2 or 4 gb if fine foor everyday tasks.

Well vista needs 2gbs just to run well...

I got crucial ram that it suggests on there site and I haven't had a problem. Since your in Canada like me, it will probably cost you $200, due to shipping crappy exchange rate and tax.

4GB of ddr3 isn't that cheap. just wait until they sort out the issues. 2GB is a very comfortable amount of memory.

the only reason i upgraded to 4GB was that it was essentially free to do so. the memory was so cheap i figured i might as well. plus im using maya, cinema 4d, matlab, and each of those is pretty intensive. honestly, if it wasn't so cheap at the time, i wouldn't have done it, despite using heavy software.
