hey guys I was using my MBP and all of a sudden everything froze. The first thing I did was close the lid then re-open after a few seconds (try to make it sleep, then wake-up) but it made no difference. So I had to hold the power button down for 4 seconds to power off. When I turned it back on I just got 3 beeps, so I held the power button down for 4 seconds again, and this time when I powered it back on I reset the PRAM. After doing that it turned in fine, and everything seems normal, however I'm worried something is starting to fail. After doing some yahoo'ing it looks like 3 beeps means the ram is failing, does this sound right to you guys? Has anyone else experienced this problem, did it turn out to just be a one time thing, or does it keep happening.

did you look in the system profile to check what it is saying about your ram?

Do you have AppleCare? If you do, download Apple's TechTool software and run a diagnostic on the whole system.

I don't have applecare, I do have a Future shop extended warranty though if it does need a logic board. However since I bought this 6 months ago, can I take it to an apple store for service since it's still in the 1 year warranty?

Yes, do that. Apple's technicians will certainly give you the best turnaround time.

Well looks like this issue is back, today the comp frooze, and when I powered it down holding the power button and powering it back on, all I got was 3 beeps. When I finally got it to boot, I ran the hardware test (install cd and hold D while booting). It showed all tested passed (I did extended test), does 3 beeps always mean RAM? what are the odd's it's a logic board? I ask because I was thinking of upgrading to 8 gigs of ram, and might use this as an excuse.

It's not uncommon for the RAM modules to either be incorrectly seated, or to have a poor connection due to a connection that isn't quite right. Have you tried simply re-seating the RAM modules?
