Just received my new MBP. (Previous Gen)

It came with the stock 2gb of RAM. I bought 2 2x2gb ram sticks to upgrade it to 4gb.

Is there any recommended waiting period for installing new ram after first receiving your computer, like a break-in period ,or can I just install it right away.

Sorry if its a stupid question, but I just wanted to be sure.

You can install it right away and test it using either OS X's built-in memory diagnostic function or the bootable program memtest86+ to ensure that the RAM you purchased is free of defects.

Whenever I swap RAM in a new computer, I boot it up and use it for an hour or so to make sure that the original RAM works correctly, then I swap it out.
