Has anyone used quicken for mac personal version? Tech guy in USA today said windows version is better. If anyone can post their pros and cons on the subject I would appreciate it. Thinking of getting MBP but I use Quicken personal finance extensively. Also, does anyone know if you can transfer quicken data from a pc to MAC?

    Thanks

I just switched from PC to Mac and used Quicken for business/personal. I did a lot of research, and found that most people said the Mac version was not as good as the PC version. So I decided to try Moneydance, which has been fine for the basics. But I'm finding it lacks some of the features I want, like it has recurring entries, but you can't see a list of them or enter them ahead of time; and you can't copy and paste an entry, or move an entry from one account to another. [Or if you can, I just ain't doin' it right...] So I'm trying to hang on until Quicken '08 for Mac comes out, in the hopes that that will be better than the current Quicken for Mac. [Not that Intuit has even provided a timeline for that...]

And it took a few tries, but I was able to transfer all files to MoneyDance.
Just make sure you clean up your Quicken files before transferring to any other money program. For example, your account names shouldn't be any longer than 15 characters. If you go to the Quicken website, they've got info on what you need to do to prepare the files for a transfer, and how to export them in the correct format: https://quicken.custhelp.com/cgi-bi...faqid=774&p_created=1129160880&p_sp=undefined

And yes, I'm very glad I made the switch from PC to Mac. Don't even use any Windows programs anymore, other than Office for Mac.

I've been using Mac Quicken 2007 for about a year now. I was using Quicken Deluxe for PC before the Mac. Yes the PC Quicken is better & easier to use. I gave other financial software a try for the Mac, I didn't find one that was comparable to Mac Quicken 2007. So I gave the Mac Quicken 2007 a 2nd try and learned to love it. The biggest drawback on the Mac is that the font is so small and hard to see, you can't edit the font size. I'm hoping that Mac Quicken 2008 will give you the option to make the font bigger. Overall after you learn how to use Mac version it becomes 2nd nature and is a great financial tool.
