    Hello,

I have a Macbook Pro 15.4" (2008 refresh). And recently I have bought a Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV. I was wondering if it is possible to connect my Macbook pro to the Sony Bravia . If so then I have some questions in mind which are:

    1. How can I connect the Macbook Pro with the LCD? What cables would I need etc.

    2. Are there more than one ways to do this? If yes then could someone please specify in details the methods by which this could be done.

    3. The resolution on my LCD is 1366 x768 pixels. So if I connect my Macbook Pro would I get that same resolution or will the display on the LCD be reduced to 1280 x800? I know my Macbook Pro has a resolution of 1440 x 900. So will the LCD display be 1366 x 768 or will it be reduced to the next resolution of 1280 x 800?

    4. Also would I get the whole of the Macbook Pro display on the TV or would I be able to get only a portion of the Macbook Pro on the TV?

    5. And would images appear as good on the LCD as they do on the Macbook Pro screen or will there be any kind of compensation in terms of image quality or image scaling?

    6. Once I connect the Macbook Pro to the TV where will I get the sound output from? As in would it be from the TV or do I need to connect external speakers to the Macbook Pro?

    7. Finally, once connected, can I close the lid of the Macbook Pro and watch the TV for instance when watching a movie or do I need to keep the lid open the entire time that Im watching the movie?

I would appreciate it if someone could take the time and answer my questions. Thanks in advance.

MiniDVI to DVI to HDMI. Resolution is whatever you want it to be. Quality is whatever your TV is.

Thank you. That was very helpful. One more question though. If I connect a DVI to HDMI converter and then an HDMI cable to the TV (hopefully thats the correct order) will I get audio from this setup or just the video output? Do I need external speakers or would the hdmi take care of that?

You will just get the video. You need extra audio cables (such as 3.5mm to phono) to get audio on the TV.
