Im getting a 13" macbook after alot of thought, and I would really prefer the black version that was avalible a while back.
Did that model have Core2Duo? Wondering if I can find one at all... If so, anyone know the max amount of RAM in them? 2/3/4 ?

Is it possible (in any 13" macbook model) to have integrated 3G?

Does anyone know if there is a hardware-list for the 13" models? As in, what CPUs they have, what graphic-cards they come with etc (I need it to have some form of nvidia circuit, or perhaps a newer intel 950 or so).

SATA2? When did the macbook get that (im atually not 100% is has it on the latest models... hafto check ;)).

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Yes, the later versions of the Black MB had an Intel Core 2 Duo. The highest GHz was 2.4GHz.

    2. The max amount of RAM is 4GB for the black MB.

    3. Not too sure about the 3G, but I don't think they have it. In fact, I'm pretty sure they don't have it. ;)

    4. The MB's have a SATA connector. ;)

With a blackbook you'll be getting the Intel x3100 integrated graphics just to let you know... the newest white macbook has the nvidia 9400m which Apple claims is 4 or 5 times faster than the Intel one.

Thanks for the replies and clearing some things out (in a bit of a rush to decide if I wanto buy one for a good price or not).

ACE link! That makes it easier ;)

Colton: Thanks for pointing that out, since I will run Linux primarily on the laptop, nvidia does help (atleast I personally find it alot easier to configure etc). Even if I dont wanto play games, I will defo. wanto watch movies every now and then ;)

Ive had tons of problems on some "weird" (non-nvidia) cards playing movies in linux, ofcourse its not the physical hardware limiting it, but, its the compatilibity and drivers. Unichrome is the worst imo, never got that working properly at all...

Im getting a bit unsecure about the CPU, since it says its a P7350 according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macbook
I thought the new highspeed/low voltage CPU´s that came out last year was P9xxx ?

Ive compard it to the 15" model (which I initially disgarded since I thought they had the same CPU's/preformance(not counting gfx)), the 15" seems to run either P8600 or T9550, depending on which speed you select.

All 3 (13.3" and both 15") seem to run a FSB or 1066MHz?
And all of them can come with 4GB of ram, and I will use the same harddrive (SSD probably) no matter which one I select..

To summarise the "question" which is a bit messy:
How does the 13.3" Macbook compare raw preformance-wise (disregarding HD and GFX) compared to Macbook pro 15"?

IGP is not good for rendering low-res movies (DVD/Rip) on high-res monitor.

I can't seem to find info on the black macbooks that is recent. Assuming Apple dropped them when they added the Alu unibody model, you likely won't find a current-gen processor in any blackbook.

IGP = Integrated Graphics Processor; so yes, Intel's chip.

bought my 13" unibody 2.4GHz yesterday and went home feeling quite tech-happy.

Opened the case up and was impressed with the content, when I flipped the lid open and press the powerbutton I can see that there is a physical "dent" in the screen, sortoff like dead pixels but more like a thin line about 8 milimeters in length, looking like its been scratched from behind.

So, closed everything up and trying to get off work earlier 2nd day in a row, to return it :(

Now I will just pray I dont hafto get into some idiotic debate with the staff about getting it replaced...

Sorry to hear that! :( Hopefully you won't have to get into any arguements or the like. I'm sure they'll be lenient with your situation. ;)

Well, it went sortoff smoothly I suppose. They replaced it without any arguments although it was the standard "oh we are not supposed to replace products if they have been opened" etc, but atleast I got a new macbook and now im typing on the buss on my way to work :)

Got a huge list of things to get working with parallels now, so ive started googling and making notes to make stuff happen :)
