Probably going to buy my first MAC. I'm aware that no notebooks are really not that great when used outside, with this in mind which screen would be better the glossy or matte? Also concerned about 5400HD will I see a big difference in speed if I move up to the 7200, and how much will the battery life suffer?

Also, what are the thoughts of any announcement on new MB?

The Matte screen reflects less so it is better for using it outside. The 7200rpm disk is faster and you will notice a differance in loading times. The batter life will not reduce too much, my guess is 10-15 minutes tops.

matte will be better for outside. with a glossy screen you'll have a hard time reading anything outdoors. you will notice a huge difference with the 7200rpm drive, believe me!
