After researching for about a month I have pretty much settled down to get a MBP. HOwever, I still have a few questions.

    1. Is the wireless range and consistency bad?

I have three friends who have the G4 Powerbooks, and all of them couldn't connect to the school's wireless from our dorm rooms because the router was all the way on the opposite side of the dorm. However, some of my friends also have macbooks and other PCs and they connect just fine. I was wondering if it was the metal body that sapped wireless range in the MBP or if the new macbooks revised the bad wireless the Powerbooks used to have.

    2. All the MBP GPU's have GDDR3?

I was wondering because as I researched, the difference between GDDR2 and GDDR3 was substantial. Do both the 128 and 256 versions have it? It says so on their website but I also heard for the 1520's that Dell lists the GPU's having the memory bandwidth of GDDR3 when in fact it has GDDR2.

    That is all!
    Cheers!

I can't tell you about the first one, since I never really used a macbook pro, but I can answer the second question. The 128MB version comes in GDDR3... As for the 256MB version or the "higher" end version of the same model, has GDDR3. At least, that is what I have read from reviews... I kind of wish that Apple would use the new 8700M GT card, but I can only dream.

Number 1: I will test for you when my MBP gets here in a week or two.

Number 2: Yes, this is one great advantage is that you know all MBPs will come with the GDDR3 version of the 8600m GT.

    1. The wireless range is better then my Lenovo T60 and older Samsung notebook. MBP has the best wireless range I have ever used.

    2. Yes it is GDDR3. There are several benchmark threads in the forum. Check them out.

Yea I saw the benchmarks but I just completely wanted to be sure. Best wireless you have ever used is pretty high praise. Looks like then I'm almost sure I'm going to get it. Honestly it sounds like one of the most solid notebooks out there, high build quality and very versatile (whether I want to word process, video edit, or game). Thanks guys!
