I'm having a problem with the authentication of XP Pro. I purchased an OEM copy of the software, installed it under Bootcamp with no problem. I then installed Fusion and now when in the virtual mode using Fusion it asks me to reauthenticate again. I was thinking about calling Microsoft to get another Key. That's if they believe that the installation is on one computer.

    Any other suggestions?

Just authenticate it over the phone, and tell them you reinstalled. That's what you have to do when you use the same copy of Windows for bootcamp and virtual machines(as well as reinstalling, and it becomes a pain).

Are you saying that I have reauthenticate each time I use Windows in Bootcamp or Fusion?

Are you running Fusion on the boot camp partition of Windows XP? Or did you create a totally separate installation in Fusion (i.e. using a hard drive image file)?

Windows requires you to re authenticate whenever you make a major hardware change. Seeing as how when you use a virtual machine you're pretty much cutting the RAM in half, and the video card is usually looked at differently, Windows thinks you've changed something major so it requires authentication again.

Get used to calling microsoft and talking with people who only know the English words they read off a screen.

I'm using Fusion on the Bootcamp partition. I installed Bootcamp first then Fusion using the Bootcamp partition.
