This is my first time re installing OS 10 and would like to ask a question. If I do a clean install with the os x discs, will all the ilife applications be gone? Also, any issues I should be warned about?

complete fresh install your gonna wipe out everything...
if you do an archive and install (or whatever its called now), all the old stuff will be archived and left on the drive so you can access it later, and keep what you wanted then delete the rest -
How do you do an archive? So even after I do a wipe out everything, I will still be able to re install these that I keep on the archive (Office, ilife).

you you boot off the OS disc it will give you multiple options for installation... one of them is to back up everything and make a fresh install, keeping your old files still available...
-
That won't due since I will be giving this computer away. I guess the best way is just to put the ilife and office application files onto a USB drive or DVD or something.

it should do.. when the install is done.. copy out the apps you want.... then delete the rest of the archive folder...
its a clean install just sticking all the old contents in one folder... when you have everything out you want, you just throw that folder with all the old stuff in the trash, then do a secure empty trash... and its gone and not recoverable.
