I have 2 computers at home: the Macbook Pro and a desktop. I was thinking of getting an Airport Extreme router... I want to be able to access the hard disk of the desktop, from the Macbook. Can Airport Extreme do that?

Yep. You'll be able to set up a network like you would any other router.

you can use any router, it doesn't have to be Apple branded.. and you can set up the hard drive on the Desktop to share, and access it across the network...

Oh... :$ I'm not very good with networking... The PC doesn't have a Wifi Card. Can I just connect it via ethernet? Sorry if this is a dumb question...

Yep you can connect the desktop with an ethernet cable. When you've gotten the router you want, and if you can't figure out how to network everything properly, just start a new thread and ask. I'm sure you'll get the answers you need quickly. It's really not very hard once you've done it once or twice.

Yes, you can file share with the Macbook Pro and the Desktop on an Airport Extreme based network... You can also add an external HD to the Airport Extreme and access that wirelessly as well from both computers.
