Alright so i have a MBP. Love the thing, got it in end of summer. Question is say in two year thing dies... processor goes or something happens to it. Will Apple just give you a new MBP, Which will be far superior to mine being 3 years newer, or does apple do all it can to fix yours so they dont have to give you a new one.

They will try and fix it first if parts are available. They are allowed 3 times to repair before the next step. If they can't fix it they will replace it with the latest model generally new. Apple replaced my Powerbook G4 with the latest model after they had issues trying to fix it. They generally will give a new one and not a refurb.

People have gotten a new machine but that's rare. As mentioned by hldan, Apple gets 3 tries to fix the issue, if that phails™ then you'll most likely get a new machine.

After sending mine off to have the logic board replaced, and then waking up to the smell of burning PCB within 24 hours of getting it back I got myself a product specialist that monitored my case. I have his direct phone number and email, so if anything happens to it again he'll replace it with a brand new one.

Apple is very good about keeping their customers happy, but they aren't just going to give every person who complains a brand new computer.

I'll tell you how rare it is. I was a tech at an Apple authorised centre, and all we did was service Macs, and I worked there for 3 years.

I only ended up getting a computer swapped out completely for a brand new one a grand total of 3 times, and we worked on an average of 30-40 computers a week.

The only noteable time was when Apple was gonna release a brand new G4 tower and Mac OS 9.2 in about two weeks. A customer had a G4 tower and his motherboard went bad, and the replacement would only run OS 9.2 or higher, and we didn't realise that until after it was all said and done...
Apple had me tell the guy that he was getting a new computer, but he had to wait until a certain date. The day that the new G4 was released, we had it arrive at the shop. He had it two weeks before we had one to sell!

But yeah... long story short, your chances of getting a new computer are slim.
