    Hi Guys  :D ,

I am going to Study Industrial And Product Design In a year or so and wanted to know what good CAD software is available for Mac OS X Leopard. Ive been doing some research on this same topic but can't find many options. Can anyone tell me the best one, or if there is even CAD software for Mac. So far I've seen the Design Tools From Adobe but those don't suit my needs. I'm considering the option of running Auto Desks' Auto CAD or Maya on my Windows Vista Partition But that option is quite pricey, so if they are any other options I would be really grateful for your help.....Thanks in Advance.. :) :p

    Hi there,

I'm fairly sure that you can get AutoDesk Maya in Mac form as well as Windows, but you may have your Windows license already. Students can download Maya for Mac for free, though, from Autodesk's website.

I've actually been using Google's SketchUp 6 for simple CAD work recently - I study Design & Technology at high school - and although it takes a... different approach to 3D modelling, once you get the hang of it is really intuitive and powerful as well. And free.

    Good luck!

i'm an industrial designer, and my advice for you is to stick to the windows platform. Macs are great for graphic designers, but not for us industrial ones.

all major product design software runs on windows, not mac. Autodesk Alias Studio, Rhino, and the like are all windows exclusives.

maya is available for mac, but it's not industrial design software, i wouldn't recommend to get used to do product modeling on maya.

as for rhino, it is true there is a mac version in development, but it won't come out before at least a year, if it ever comes out. (which i have my doubts will ever happen)
