I installed Leopard (fresh install) about a week ago, and until now its been fine. Recently, however, its developed several problems that I haven't been able to fix/remedy.

    1) CPU usage will randomly spike to ~80-90% and stay there until I reboot or the computer freezes.
    2) Airport will disconnect and reconnect constantly. This causes quite a bit of lag and does seem coincide with the spikes in CPU usage (not entirely sure).
    3) When I shutdown the fans will run for 10-15 seconds after everything else appears to be powered down. (problem with SMC fan control?)

I'm a recent switcher (4 months) so I'm not the greatest at troubleshooting macs, especially considering that everything until now has been problem free. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: also, kinda unrelated, but for whatever reason when I added all of my music to itunes it copied about 600 tracks twice (I selected the option where it copies and organizes your music for you in the itunes folder). Anyone know why it would do this? and is my only option to manually go through and delete the tracks?

stay away from leopard for a while... if you use your mac to get work done.

if you want to work out the bugs... then you'll be in for a treat.

That was my plan. Several of my friends/family installed Leopard and had no problems, so I decided to buy it. As of now I'm regretting my decision as I lost half of a paper that I was working on.

itunes does copy your music from whereever they are when you add them to your library - but not sure why it would do it *twice*

go to view-> show duplicates in itunes and it'll list the duplicates. A bit easier than finding them one by one to delete.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. But there still are 1000+ tracks that come up. I don't want to have to manually go through and delete stuff every time I add more than a few songs.

iTunes does that only if you set it to do so on the preferences.

Under Preferences>General, you may uncheck "Copy files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to library" if you don't want iTunes to copy your music. Keep it checked, if you choose to have everything copied under your iTunes folder.
