I've posted this once before, but as my OCD side gets to me i'm dead set to fix it. Here's the problem

Santa Rosa Macbook Pro has a DVI out, for hooking an external monitor. I simply hook my Samsung 206bw (20" 1680x1050) to it. OS X recognizes it, but it takes a good while before the monitor will display anything

The monitor displays OS X, but heavily distorted, grainy, with color malfunctions and general ugliness. It also displays the "Not optimal settings, Please set to 1680x1050 60mhz." error.

The real issue from their, is the fact in OS X I have the monitor set to 1680x1050, with a 60mhz refresh rate.

This is driving me nuts, the monitor is listed as Mac compatible.

I don't think OS X is supported by Samsung. If it were, there would probably be some drivers or something listed on their driver download page.

Where did you read that it was Mac compatible? I've been looking to purchase this monitor and haven't seen any indication that it would work on a Mac.
