So I've been rockin an iPhone 3G for more than a week now, never expected it to be this good! Everything's great except for battery life, sometimes I have to charge it twice in one day :S Kind of a hassle when I'm out and about, thankfully I always have somewhere to charge either at the office or inside any vessel I board. One funny thing is sometimes I go into this launch service (smaller boat that takes me to an oil tanker for example), it's about a 30 minute ride, on my older blackberry curve I get no data connection, but I do on my iPhone. Also, we have no 3G here, so I used to turn it off, but I've tried turning it on a couple of times and edge is MUCH faster that way, no idea why. I know for a fact that the wireless provider here is in the process of turning on the new 3G network, but I still have the E on the iPhone... anyone can shed any light on this?

So anyway, my actual problem :p

When I compose a new email in mail, and send it to a test address, it's sent with courier font. Is there a way to change that to arial 10 for example? This doesn't happen when I forward though, another weird thing...

    Thanks!

I dont think you can change the font, maybe with a 3rd party app, but thats really interesting about how the speed of EDGE on your iPhone is much faster when 3G is enabled (meaning 3G is enabled but with no 3G in the area the iPhone switches back to EDGE). I've never took notice of it but I'll try it out.

Since this thread is about iPhone email, I recently was trying to add my Yahoo email account and it seems to have some trouble connecting. I have a ymail domain email, and I went about adding the account by touching Settings, then Mail, and touched the Y! Mail option, then simply added my information but it says some imap.apple.yahoo.com server has an error.

I previously was able to add the regular @yahoo.com domain emails just fine. Its not really important since I use Gmail as my primary email but anyone have a suggestion?

I use my ymail account as well but I have no problems, I just filled out the blanks and let Mail do the rest, did you change any settings?

No I didnt change any settings. I just touch the Settings app, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Add Account..., Yahoo Mail, and enter in my information, (email address includes the @ymail.com domain), but I get an error saying:

    Cannot Get Mail

The user name or password for "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect.

I have entered in my email address and password correctly. I verified it by signing into my account on my computer. I still cant figure out what might be the problem. Gmail works flawlessly though, as well as Microsoft Exchange.

Maybe try turning the Exchange account off?

This is a picture of my ymail settings...not sure they would help, it's exactly the same as yours. The only weird thing to me is that long server name you get, I have Yahoo SMTP server on mine, see:

I just tried adding it again after turning my Exchange account off, and it shows the same error message. I touched to Save, and so it has saved the account regardless of being able to connect. I also have the Yahoo! SMTP Server, it is shown as on while the others are shown as off, for this account. My screen looks the same as yours except the password is blank and if I try to fill that in it shows the same error message as before:

    Cannot Get Mail

The user name or password for "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect.

I don't have a problem for mine. You must be doing something wrong. Delete all your accounts for mail and try adding Yahoo mail again. Should work very easily.

I tried deleting all my mail accounts and readding them all including my Yahoo one and it didnt work. Same error message comes up. I think I am entering it in the right way as I did so back in July when I first got my iPhone. I go into Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then Yahoo! Mail, and enter the correct email address with password. I have a ymail type Yahoo email and it works fine on a browser so I know I am entering the correct email and password.

I also just restored my iPhone last night and it still gives the same error. I dont use my Yahoo email account but I would like to have it up on my iPhone.

I haven't noticed weird font changes when using Gmail on my iPod Touch, then again maybe I'm not paying close enough attention. Maybe Yahoo mail is doing some funny business on their mail servers? I haven't used Yahoo mail, but if you can try to view the original source (the raw SMTP) of the message you might see that yahoo is changing the font with HTML tags or embedded CSS.

Yes I have followed those instructions exactly and properly. I had my Yahoo email setup easily back in July when I bought my iPhone but now it is not working. I am now suspecting that its just an issue with Yahoo's servers since I even tried some possibilities such as changing my password if non-alphanumeric characters caused issues. I have a @ymail.com domain but I also tried an old @yahoo.com domain and @sbcglobal.net domain, both did not work but they did work in the past on my iPhone and last year when I had my mail accounts on my iPod touch. Gmail and my exchange account work seamlessly however.

So I got my Yahoo email back on my phone a few days ago. I think it was a problem with Yahoo's servers since I entered the same information and everything setup normally.
