When i open bootcamp program and try to partition my hard drive (leaving 30 gigs of space for mac os and the rest for vista) it always fails and tells me to go to disk utility to repair it. I've repaired it a couple times there but the partitioning still won't work.

Also, it says to install the full version of vista or xp and not the Service pack separately or something...how do i do this for vista if the SP1 isn't even out yet? What problems will that cause if i install SP separately?

What option are you choosing when creating the Vista partition? If you leave it on the default (I think it says "make no changes") then you will have problems. You have to reformat the partion as either Fat (if you want Mac OS to read and write to it) or NTFS (Mac OS can read the drive, but not write to it). I've done it once, but I'm trying to remember off the top of my head - someone please correct me if I've made an incorrect statement or two :)

You need to get this clear 1st:
    - When mentioning SP1 and SP2, these are strictly XP, for Vista you don't need to worry about SP. An yes, the XP disc needs to have SP1/SP2 included - not something you can update later.

    - There are 2 formating systems, FAT and NTFS (diggy talks about the differences and consequences above.) If you chose FAT, the max amount of gigs for the winXP will be 32GBs.
So when the blue screen comes up you need (scroll down) to chose the third option which is called "bootcamp partition" (I think) NTFS, click Enter and it will start partitioning.

there's no blue screen. I see a grey window that has a slider option used to set the amount of hard drive space you'd like each OS to have and then there's a (1) partition button in the lower right corner.

You will be partitioning/formating two times - the 1st one is the one you're mentioning (Grey.) After you are done with it, the 2nd time you need to partition/format the screen will be blue.

Yep, you partition the second time after booting from the Windows cd
