I have several windows notebooks on a home network for printing on 1 printer. The printer is attached to desktop windows computer. If I buy a MB will I be able to print through this network on the same printer? if not what would I need to do to print on this printer.
Hope that made sense.
Thanks

It depends on the printer make and model and if there is a Mac network driver for it. For instance I have a Canon i860 that will work great when connected to the Mac, but will not work if I try to use it in a situation like the one describe. The only way it does work, is to use a network driver of a different Canon printer, but I lose things like empty paper notifications and the like. It prints which is all I need, but it I don't have any of the advanced features. What printer do you use?

That may interest you. It seems as though you may have limited ability at best. The problem is many of these companies, Canon being one of the worst it seems, just do not support OS X network drivers. -
Thanks for the info. It sounds like either I buy a new printer for just the MB or stick with windows. One strike against Apple.

While we are on the compatability question, will I have any issues getting a wireless connection through my current network using the linksys WRT 54Gx, supports wireless G

It's only one strike against Apple because I already own the printer

Ok so I bought the MBP, and my Canon MP730 of course doesn't print, there no drivers on the canon website and I tried the following
"The printer model suggested by Ubuntu is the MultiPASS C2500, and the driver is bjc600. "
Found the printer but not the driver on Canon's website.
Any Help???
