Hi my name is Mischka, i don't know where to post this one and i just hope I'm in the right place. I am a student of the International Academy of Film and Television and I would really want you to share your opinions, how similar or different is Adobe Premier to Apple's Final Cut Pro? For aspiring editors who only have PCs with Premier installed, can they apply this knowledge with Final cut in a Mac? Who has any idea on this? Thanks!

Hi Mischka, I moved your post to the Apple forum since you're comparing Premiere with Final Cut Pro.
Both are really good video editors, although you will probably find that going with Final Cut Pro and getting familiar with it right off is the better idea, since its becoming more and more used in the film industry. -
Adobe Premiere pales in comparison to Final Cut Pro in almost every way except price.
Adobe Premiere is good for beginners because it's not very technical, but Final Cut Pro is a far more powerful application. Not as powerful as Avid though. But Avid is very expensive and professional. -
I haven't tried Avid, is that hard to use?

as someone that has actually used and gotten to know this software, I am very knowledgable with Premiere and Final Cut Pro, both are very powerful, and each has capabilities that the other is missing, but over all, final cut studio would be the system I would choose. It is definitely becoming the standard, as Avid systems are beginning to be phased out by much more cost effective systems like final cut studio.
in terms of Avid being more powerful, that is completely relative, the "more powerful" features it has will probably not even be used by most editors, and if you learn any of these systems you should easily be able to jump to another one without major issues. There are definitely some differences but the overall idea is the same with each.
that said, I think Premiere has a much better user interface than Avid and Final Cut Pro, but I believe Apple will definitely update FCP at some point to match the rest of their software and have a much more unified single window system in the future, like Adobe has done successfully with all of its software. -
Yeah many people are starting to use final cut more. If you are interested i would recommend you getting final cut express 4. This will help you get off your feet.
