I recently received a powerbook G4 15" 1.5ghz laptop which is just great, but have some questions I hope somebody here can answer.

    1. The battery is shot, it no longer holds charge and definitely needs to be replaced. Unfortunately it happens to fall just outside the recall serial # range. So my question is, where can I find a suitable replacement battery that fits this laptop for the cheapest price? Was looking at batteryheads.com but not sure if there are better stores?

    2. I am planning on upgrading the ram to the full 2 gigs (only has 512 currently). I plan on crucial memory for mac from crucial.com. Do you guys think this is a good choice of memory for the powerbook, or is there a better brand/price ratio? Also when I do install it, do you think there will be a noticeable increase in overall computing speed?

Sorry if these questions are trivial, but I never really had to buy mac hardware before. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

    1) you can find it from apple store. online is better, since the stock is newer which means the battery will last longer. li-ion battery slowly die while they are sitting in the shelf. the clocks keeps on ticking wheter you use it or not.

    2) yes i think crucial is a good memmory company. corsair is good too. you dont need to buy the "for mac" but i personally get them, coz it is guarantee to work with mac.

what OS are you running? needless to say; the performance will improve by a lot! OS X just fly with 2gigs of ram. :)
