Is it possible to replace the fans in this notebook with some really high end fans that are quieter? Even if the fans would cost me 50 dollars I'd do it money is no object. I just want the quietest as possible fans I can put in there.

I'm a first time mac owner and its some exciting times for me. I know there isn't much else I can DIY upgrade on a macbook but I've never kept a notebook completely stock EVER so I feel like I need to open it up and do something aftermarket in there. Only thing I can think of is putting in a super silent super high quality fan. Any options out there? I'll be happy even if it's only a slight 1-2 db reduction. And if you have any other ideas of what I can upgrade in this notebook myself to better than the stock part I'm down for all suggestions.

Nope. Like everything else in the rMBP, it's a proprietary design. There is nothing that can be upgraded or changed by the end user.

I thought the rMBP 15 already had a unique patented asymmetric fan blade design. It was supposed to be specifically designed to make it quieter, or at least less obtrusive.

It is quieter than the standard MBPs but I guess it's still too noisy for the OP.

As previously stated, the fan design is proprietary and you can't upgrade it. People haven't even expressed interest in changing the fan system in the MBPr as it's better than the standard MBP and quieter. Aside from the MBA, it's the quietist notebook line from Apple.

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to tell the difference, in that case.
