Sometimes my mouse pointer will ultimatically shoot to one corner of the screen at random. At first I thought maybe it had something to do with my optical mouse but it did it while I was using the trackpad once. I use active screen corners so I thought maybe that was what cause it. It's annoying sometimes though when you are going to click on something and the dashboard pops up in your face because the pointer has gone to one of the corners.

That's weird. It happens sometimes on my Windows machine at work, but I always blamed the old mouse. Try repairing permissions and see if OS X is up to date.

Check to make sure that you have Ignore accidental trackpad input checked on teh trackpad settings.
This makes a huge difference for me. It prevents the mouse from jumping around when I'm typing.
