Hi,
I just pulled my Dell SP2208WFP out of the box today and sweet mother the default settings are horrendous. I might as well be tripping on acid the way the screen looks.
Can anyone who uses this monitor with their Mac please provide me with all of the custom settings you use on the monitor to make it look decent? This would include RGB values, brightness, contrast, sharpness, input color format (-RGB or YPbPr+ (which is the default)), etc.
I am connected via an HDMI/DVI-D cable and I did not install any software or drivers.
Thanks.

Have you tried calibrating the screen in OS X via System Pref>Display>Colour>Calibrate?

I had the same problem with this monitor and I found the solution here:

Check out the 3rd post down that says:
"I don't know if you already figured this out, but I just picked up this monitor and have a few tips for you:
1. Set your computer to this monitor's native resolution: 1680x1050
2. Here are settings that should give you a better starting tuning than default:
Brightness: 75
Contrast: 75
Sharpness: 25
Color: Management OFF
User Preset
r100 b100 g100
3. After you have something pretty mid like that, jump into the display pane in preferences, then color, then calibrate it. The default profile probably won't match the particular screen you got.
As far as I could tell, turning off color management, and then setting the user preset mode took away all that awful sharpening and now text is nice again. (well, it's actually a little soft without sharpening at 25)" -
Yeah, I feel your pain! Been there...
bendito33's suggestions are very good.
I personally use rgb = 60 and then somewhat higher contrast/brigthness
Just play around and find what you personally prefer.
*Definitely* turn off Color Managemenet and set Sharpness to 25; I think that provided the biggest improvement.
The fonts *will* look somewhat different, especially in Firefox (don't know why). In Office 2008 they look beautiful thou.
Once properly calibrated, the colors are very good! I'm happy with my monitor.
Please -- Someone with a Dell SP2208WFP Monitor connected to a Mac, I need settings
