    Hello,

I need advice on how to fix screen on my girlfriends macbook pro, A1260.

    Picture is attached.

It is not GPU, because everything is fine on the external monitor.
I've disassembled the screen and put it together, but it didn't fix it (there was a minor change, but generally it stayed the same).

So i wanted to ask, if you know which areas i could check, to see if the wire is broken, if no contact is being made - anything that would help solve this issue.

    Thanks a lot

P.S. It started couple a months ago, and she brought the notebook to repair shop, where they changed the GPU, and it was fixed for a while (although i didnt think it was the cause, because external monitor worked, but the issue was fixed for a month). But it started now again...

P.P.S. will upload better quality picture later on.

probably either the main screen connecting wire is broken, or the sock it plugs into on the board... best to try reseating the cable that comes down fromt he screen into the main logic board a few times first... make sure its in all the way...

I would think that you have a motherboard issue. Although the GPU may be working correctly, the port that the display cable connects to is most likely faulty. It's very rare that the display would be faulty, especially taking into consideration the "pinkish" huge.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Is it safe to disassemble the laptop, and then turn it on, and play with cables?

Can anything happen to the laptop? (Im assuming there isnt enough votage in the battery to do damage to me, but let me know, if im wrong :) )

Volts won't do much, but Amps can kill. Yes there is enough Amps in there if you screw something up you can get electrocuted and die... so don't play around with it if you don't know what you are doing.
