    Hi friends,

Just a couple of days back I thought of replacing my netgear router with airport. And I am glad i did that.....the range of airport is much better.......!!

The installation was a breeze........just took 5 mins to setup my lan cable internet. But the funny part was I did setup using my macbook......and after installation the router restarted....and mac could not find it

So i booted my vaio with vista and loaded the cd....and the settings which i did with mac were there in router......and vaio detected router fine. Then i rebooted mac....and it also detected the router.

I have a 1000 sq.ft apartment......and in India we have walls of bricks and cement unlike usa where wood is more preferred.

But airport performed excellently all over my apartment. full signal strength every where.........!! :)

That's actually quite an interesting unit. I'd not seen an Airport Extreme in the flesh. I have a Time Capsule now which is an Extreme with a HD inside. That said, the power adapter is INSIDE the Time Capsule whereas it's external on the Extreme. I think this was a poor decision in regards to the Time Capsule because it can definitely run pretty warm. I'd have preferred the external power brick like on the Extreme, despite it taking up more room. Hard Drives + heat = not good. I also noticed the UK plug; Does India use the same power bricks as the UK?

no.....India does not use that kinds plug. I have a spike guard which can accept any country's plug....that's how I am able to use it.

    absolutely no idea :D

actually in India, still there is a lack of proper apple stores etc. even no online apple store is there for india :(

only recently some stores which are authorised apple resellers have come up in major metropolis like mumbai.

i happened to visit 1 such store.......and got from there. even i was surprised not to see indian plug in the box......maybe thats an indication that apple still does not think India to be a major market as far as computers are concerned.

ipods are sold left right n center in all stores...but the same is not the case for macs.

Recently Reliance started opening stores in Mumbai......so this should change the scenario........as Ambani brothers are among the top 5 richest in the world....and if they think mac is cool and they wanna market it :p it will be an apple boom here :D

till then we will have to be satisfied with UK or USA adapters :p

Apple packaging is in a league of its own. Every cable in EVERY Apple product I've had has been incredible to open. They use this lightly sealing tape that comes apart easily, and the wrapping round the Airport/Time Capsule/AC cords/Airport Express is just very lovingly designed. Just ace.
