Hi guys. I'm going to buy a MBP soon, and I just wanted to know if I should purchase it online or go in to the store to buy it.

If I order it online it's going to be shipped to me in NY. Or I could go to the store in Manhattan and buy it there.

Is there any difference? What about taxes, if I purchase online do I still pay the taxes? What about in the store?

Taxes are applicable online if the company owns a store in the state you live and if there is tax there. So yes, there will be tax, both ways. Buy it in the store, I hear that if you get a dud of a machine, its a pain up the butt to return online purchases.

If you know anyone in Delaware, ship it there. Or just drive down. When I bought mine in PA, i got the base model and paid 140$ in taxes. If only I lived near Delaware....

So Apple doesn't have a store in Delaware?

    What about New Jersey?

New Jersey has a 7% sales tax. I know because I live there and have to deal with such high taxes.

    Pfft, that's nothing.

Where I live in California, we pay 8.5% sales tax.

Anyways, I think the only two states that don't have sales tax is Delaware and Oregon.

Well, in the US, New Jersey has one of the highest tax rates, so I guess I have every right to complain again. :)
