Is there any way to make your mac mail passworded? Isn't it no -secure to have your inbox readily available at all times especially for work? How can you "close" mail and make it as for a password to open it?

Not directly (that is know of). But a work around would be to enable "require password when computer wakes up from sleep or screen saver" in the security section of system prefs.
You could then set the screensaver timer to say 3 minutes or I'm sure you could find a little program to manually start the screensaver with a click.

you can start the screensaver by setting it as one of your "hot corners"

if there's no way to password protect mac mail, i suggest importing your account into thunderbird, which can be told to remember your password or have you put it in any time you check your mail.
