When I partition when installing Bootcamp, does that delete all the data on my Macbook?

depends on how you partition your harddrive... you have to properly configure on where you will save your XP OS.

I don't know what he means by that...

But no, it will not effect your OS X partition.

I have kind of a 2 part question that's related. First, is it possible to resize or delete the Windows partition (restore to a OS X only state)? And does this require extra software?

Second, a bit more off topic, but is there a way to reformat and restore the Mac to it's original factory installed state? I'm assuming the included restore discs would do this, but I just wanted to make sure. Would this be able to reformat and wipe all personal information?

I know you can delete the Windows partition with the Boot Camp Assistant, but I am not sure if you can resize it.

As for reformatting, yes you can choose to format the the drive and install OS X and iLife from scratch. You can also do a archive and install which keeps all of your data intact.
