I just double-clicked a .xls document on MacOSX and despite having iWork installed it resirted to opening up Microsoft Excel in Parallels. Annoying!

Now i know i can go and change what application opens up .xls docs permanently, but there must be a way to disable and completely prevent this action happening with any document on OSX.

Basically, i never ever want OSX to even consider opening Parallels to open a document. Does anyone know where that setting could be?

right click an .xls file (any) and go to get info. you can also press apple key + i.

find Open with, change it to iWorks or whatever you want to open it with and then click Change all.

Thanks but i'd like to disable any and all programs from opening through parallels. Like i said i could do it with each file format individually but thats laborious.

So if anyone knows of a way to tell Parallels to only open when i specifically click on it that would be great

I havent used parallels in awhile, but there was some option in there to enable or disable allowing this exact thing...
