As I mentioned in another post, the Palm interface for the Mac side is awful. I have parallels and windows xp loaded, when I go to that to synch the Palm, it won't work. Anyone have any ideas? If I can't fix this problem, the Mac is going back. It is silly that it is this big of a hassle for such a commonly used device.

Wouldn't it be less of a hassle to switch to a PDA that has good OS X support?

Also, you may want to try synching to it with windows in boot camp.

Well, you're going of out of luck there; any way you slice it, native Mac support isn't going to be good with the software Palm makes, and MS ignores it completely with Windows Mobile.

diver, I'd really recommend just getting the Missing Sync from MarkSpace ( www.markspace.com)

Regarding using the Windows Palm Desktop software, perhaps try it in VMware Fusion instead, maybe it would work better there?

The other option would be to bag the mac. I just talked to a colleague. It turns out that in Parallels Palm can't find the USB port. There apparently is something called OSX 10 the Missing Manual that gives you a way to synch a palm into address book and ical, but it should not be this hard.

Thanks Zadillo, yeah markspace is the other option. Do you know if it would permit me to go back and forth between PCs and Macs, ie can I synch in Mac with markspace and in regular palm on a PC (I have a pc at work).

Well, blame Palm for that. Frankly Palm Desktop on Windows has become a nightmare too (see the Palm users waiting for proper Vista support).

Yes, it's an option to bag the Mac I guess. Personally, if I liked the Mac and this was the one issue, I would just buy the Missing Sync for $40:

    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php

It works great, is significantly better than the crap Palm has been putting out, is actually supported and updated, and it gets the job done.

That's a good question. Using Missing Sync on the Mac shouldn't interfere with how it would sync on a PC...... so it shouldn't be too different a scenario from keeping the same Palm synched to two separate PC's as well.

But as far as I know, Missing Sync doesn't change anything about how the Palm itself works.

    Not totally sure though.

What specifically is your problem? If it's not showing up at all, you might go to the parallels menu in OS X... one of the dropdowns.. "Devices", I think: You can select individual USB devices and have them connect to Windows instead of OS X. Then, I have heard of Parallels having USB issues. Haven't experienced any myself, but I've only used the occasional hdd and my ipod.

I thought iSync could transfer iCal and contacts in Address Book to Palm?

You are obviously not a Palm owner :p My Palm is like an extension of me. I would never give it up, not even for OSX.

But like others said, Myssing Sync should help your problems.

I can sync my Palm to my MacBook. I used some information from the Palm website to get it set up. But I don't have anything complicated on mine. I think the OP mentioned private records, which I don't use.
