Recently got my hands on iWork '09 for my 13" MBP and am slowly but surely learning how to create the same kinds of documents in Pages that I have been creating in Microsoft Publisher '07. :)

One small question though-how do I make the text I type out actually show up as italicized on screen?

When I'm typing something out, up in the format bar, the only option I have to format my text is underline (the Bold & Italic options are greyed out). I can go to Format > Font and do it that way, but it still appears normal as I type. I should mention that the font I'm using is Century Gothic. Any other font has all three options available, but I have to go to the Format menu for this specific one.....

Have you tried highlighting the desired text and using cmd+I?

    Yeah I did.

I should apologize too, because after doing some digging I found that only the 'regular' version of Century Gothic was included with OS X (not the specialized bold & italicized versions) and that was pretty much at the root of my problem.

To fix it, I just copied the versions I wanted from the fonts folder on my desktop over to my MBP and installed them from there.
