I have exhausted all of my options in the PC notebook market and can't find anything that really fits the bill.

Then I looked at the MBP, and it has so many features that I want, specifically the low weight and non-glossy screen option, but I'm wondering how XP will perform under a dual-boot system (using boot strap utility from Apple).

Also, will I be able to use my existing peripherals (keyboard, mouse, Dell monitor)?

Boot Camp, not Boot Strap, lol

yeah, MB and MBPs run XP or Vista great.

Peripherals should work fine. USB keyboard? Keys are a lil' different.

Just as count_schemula said, I'm just backing his statement up :).

Yes, Boot Camp runs Windows XP and Vista great. Just like a PC would with the same specs as the MacBook or MacBook Pro.

The mouse and monitor should work fine...most peripherals have Mac drivers now. As for the keyboard, it will work but you have to get used to the keys that won't be marked with Apple's icons. Most important key you have to use is the Apple (also known as Command) key, which is left of your spacebar on your keyboard.

    "Boot Strap"

If that was intentional, you sir are a comical genius.

I can verify what they said about XP running great. I do a dual boot with my 2.2 ghz and love it.

Nope. Not intentional; just got my terms a bit confused.

    Thanks for all the replies.
