Planning on buying a mac book pro 13" in a couple of weeks(saving money). My question is, are you able to run bittorent/utorrent applications on OSX?

Yes, I use Vuze for Mac. I just download HM Linux, and am in the process of downloading Ubuntu 10.04.

I use uTorrent. There's also transmissions, but I ditched that after months of them not fixing the problem making it crash, But I think it's fixed now.

I'm currently using Transmission. I haven't noticed any odd behavior, crashes or freezes so I think they've fixed all the problems.
I was using Tomato Torrent before which has a very small footprint and is also free but it's very simplistic and doesn't offer many features.

I use uTorrent after getting annoyed with the numerous crashes with Transmission.

Really? It's stable as a rock for me but I'm also running Transmission 1.54 with OS X Tiger on an old PowerBook G4.
Maybe that makes a difference, who knows.

I've been using Transmission for years... never had any stability problems at all.

Like others have stated, uTorrent, Vuze, and Transmission seem to be the big ones. I know that with Vuze you can drag and drop video files into media folders and it will automatically format them for streaming to other devices like Xbox 360 and PS3. That was always a nice feature, but I personally prefer uTorrent.
