    Hi guys,

I just ordered a pretty nice laptop cooling pad for my MBP and 4GB of RAM (2x2GB), and I'm looking to see what I can do as far as overclocking this thing goes. I'm running Vista with Boot Camp (Still using Tiger), and I want to squeeze every ounce of performance out of this thing, as I am basically using it for a (mobile) desktop replacement.

Has anyone had any luck overclocking their CPU / GPU? I'm more interested in pushing the GPU since I mostly use the laptop for gaming, but I'm not sure where to begin as most of the overclocking tools I know of supposedly do not work on Vista.

    My questions are:

    1. What drivers (I use the ones over at laptopvideo2go.com) will give me the best performance? I want to avoid using older drivers, but I don't think the new drivers even allow overclocking. What will give me better performance: Overclocking on old drivers, or keeping the default settings on newer drivers? (I'm mainly playing TF2 these days, I don't know if any drivers are specifically geared towards HL2)

    2. As far as overclocking the processor, is it advisable to do so? Am I going to have a total meltdown, or can I push it a little with adequate cooling and get away with it?

    3. What program can I use to overclock processor speed in Boot Camp Vista? Are there any that work, or do I have to go dicking around in the apple partition (I am not good with OSX :( )

Thank you for any help you can provide me!

You won't be overclocking the CPU because it's locked. You can however easily overclock your GPU, whether you use programs such as ATItool, Rivatuner, etc. You just need a driver that's overclockable, I personally recommend the 169.09, 169.28 drivers although the 17x series might produce good results as well.

I thought the 17x series weren't for laptops? I haven't heard anyone on a Macbook Pro using them.
