    Hello,

I am looking for something to run on osx 10.5.4 to produce organization charts - I have office 2008 but I don't see the org chart wizards built into powerpoint like they are on the windows version.

Is there a good tool I can use to produce these org charts that is native osx?

    Thanks,
    Tom

I took a quick dive into google and found a LOT of payware ranging from a whopping 99 bucks and it went UP from there ?!?

I guess org charting isn't supposed to be free. I would suggest you use boxes and connect them with lines in powerpoint and be done with it. If you're charting a large organization, then have your IT guy get you a copy of one of those $500 programs. If you're charting a small group powerpoint should do. I did see a web site that claimed to create free org charts online. I guess you could enter bogus names to get the shape you want, then download it and add in the real names later.

Doh! How could I forget Inkscape? It's free and org charts should be very simple to do in such a powerful open source vector drawing package.

I've uploaded an org chart of how authority flows in our family. I think you'll find it not only accurate and informative, but a good example of the capabilities of the inkscape software.

The free office suite OpenOffice.org includes Draw which is a Visio-like program for making charts and diagrams... that should do the trick.

Thanks, Swarmer! That was a lot easier than Inkscape. The same chart in Draw took about half the time it took in inkscape!
