Went with the 2.0ghz since I was limited on funds. This will be my 1st Mac and I can't wait :D

I chose next business day shipping & ordered about 11:45am EST. I'm hoping I get it tomorrow. Still says, "Prepared for Shipment" on my order status right now at 5:17pm EST. :-/

I know there are a bizillion-trillion threads on good Mac software, but if there's anything anyone knows of that is an app that no Mac owner should go without, lemme know!

My machine will be mostly for college school work, internet browsing, music and movies, and occasional light gaming (Counter-Strike: Source, etc).

Oh, does anyone know where they ship from? I ordered it stock, no upgrades or customization.

    Thanks!

I always install Quicksilver. It is the one app that changes the way I navigate through OS X and it is not available for Windows.

    Cjro9,

Congratulations to the purchase and welcome to the OS X club. I am sure you will be very happy with the MB. Considering that you are in WV (I just assumed this from your avatar), your macbook will most probably ship from Apple's PA warehouse so I am quite sure you will get your system tomorrow. That being said, I bet the standard ground shipping would have gotten to you in 1 business day any way. I hope Apple cut you some slack on the NBD shipping cost.

its an app launcher and so much more! though spotlight works pretty well, i find quicksilver to be much faster (though maybe not as accurate)

Blah, maybe I should have gone with the free shipping then. Ah well, next business day was only $23. That's pretty negligible when you are spending $1400

I'm planning on ordering this bluetooth mouse from Newegg at the end of the week, and I already ordered a mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter so I can hook'er up to my 42" HDTV. Oh, and a black Incase Neoprene sleeve from Apple :p

Well stated! Are you keen on getting a bluetooth mouse? If not, check out the Logitech VX Nano. Also, where did you get the mini Display Port to HDMI adapter?

Argggg.. I just realized what I ordered was a mini DVI to HDMI. Ordered from Monoprice.com. Doesn't look like they have the mini DP to HDMI adapter yet. But it's supposed to be coming.

Sweet! I just got the same model actually, started playing with it a few hours ago and am in heaven, you won't be disappointed!
Don't really know of any apps yet, but someone on these forums turned me on to Open Office, it's a free word processing etc program for OSX. I'm using it to do a paper right now and so far it's working very well!

I just ordered my first Mac (pro) as well and it should be here tomorrow.

Was contemplating between the Vaio Z and the Macbook Pro for months, and at the end decided to try something new other than Windows. Going to be a whole new adventure, hopefully a positive one.

I just ordered my Macbook today too! I went for the stock unibody 13", 2.0 GHz option.

As you can see in my signature I currently own a XPS M1530. Before I got that one I hesitated between ordering a Macbook or the Dell one. In retrospect I can say that I made the wrong decision because of the troubles I have had. Not saying that the Macbook buy is going to be 100 % smooth but from what I have heard from others and read in here it should be a little bit smoother.

Now it's just to wait..

I'm not sure if they make a mini display port to HDMI. But you can try mini display port to dvi and then dvi to hdmi. I do something similar to my black macbook.

I wouldn't think that MiniDisplay>DVI and then DVI>HDMI would keep the same quality through all those connections. Just my input. ;)

Ooh, not good! . Would it work if you have an external speaker setup with a sound cable attached from the notebook to the subwoofer?

Yeah, having to run a separate cable for sound would ruin it for me. Too complicated for something I can't have set up all the time. I've seen various rumors on the net that mini dp to hdmi is on the way. I'll just wait.

    Yes, I do something similar.

It shouldn't degrade, its a digital signal.....

I have used mini DVI>DVI and then DVI>HDMI and picture did not degrade.
