Does anyone know how to bypass the stupid stacks/ fan layout when you click a folder in the dock? And I know that you can have it pop up with a list type thing, but I just want a *finder window* with my folder displayed when I click a folder in my dock. On a side note, how do you normally move files around in the finder? Do you drag like it seemingly forces you to do? Or is there some way to enable a cut/ paste type action? I know that copying and pasting a file is possible, but I dont like having doubles of files on my HD...
Thanks in advance for all advice/ thoughts.

ummm my advice is click "Open in Finder" after the stacks out or just spot light (Command + space)

this is a productivity issue and all that your solution offers is a poisoned band-aid. There has to be a way to work this out... or maybe a program...?

OR
You can use a plist hack.
OR
1. Create a folder called "Quick Launch" (or whatever you want...)
2. Place this folder somewhere out of the way (Documents, perhaps)
3. Create an alias of the folder(s) you want to access instantly from the dock and drag the alias to "Quick Launch"
4. Drag the alias in "Quick Launch" to the dock (don't delete the alias after you dropped it into the dock, leave it in "Quick Launch")
5. Behold! You have a folder in the dock that opens in finder with a single click!
Option three seems messy, but its probably the easiest if you hate column view and don't want to do a plist hack (I wouldn't blame you).
Hope this helps. -
Omg!! thank you so much!@!@!@! The quick launch folder or w/e is unneeded though, I just created an alias, dragged it into the dock and presto! Instant open! Thank you sooo much!! + rep

Yea I just was about to suggest to use an alias, but robgunn beat me to it.
Surprised I didn't think of it earlier, but I use pathfinder instead of finder, so it wouldn't really matter now.
